About Us
Christian Science church services have been held in Lake Havasu City since the city’s inception in 1964. Informal services were held in a private home and attended by a very small group. In 1967, church services were held by a Christian Science Society in Needles, California. The group from Lake Havasu City went to Sunday services being held there, and participated in those services.
In March, 1968, informal services were started in the Lake Havasu Elementary School on Smoketree Avenue (now known as Smoketree Elementary School). On February 4, 1970, members met in a private home and voted to form a Christian Science Society. By-laws were drawn up, and on March 9, 1970, an election of officers took place.
A request was then made to the developer of the town (Holly Corporation) for a church site, and one was offered on Acoma Boulevard. A stipulation was made that upon acceptance of the lot, a church building must be completed within fifteen (15) months. The lot was accepted and the building successfully completed within the time frame.
On August 27, 1971, the first church services and Sunday School classes were held in the new edifice.
On June 13, 1975, a Reading Room was established. Originally, it was housed in the foyer of the present church building. In October, 2010, the Reading Room was moved into the same space that occupied by the Sunday School building.
In 1989, the members voted to construct an addition, which would include a Sunday School, nursery, and restrooms. The addition was constructed and completed in 1992, with the first Sunday School services being held in the new facility on Sunday, December 18,1992.
